all good things must come to an end… i have to leave my dear friend laura m and travel once again into the great unknown… we had a blast hanging out, laughing, being buddies… but i know ill see her again very soon…

i have a book to write…

in montana…

so with that said i will need to focus on gettin er done… posts will be sporadic with more pics than words… for a while anyway…

my entire world opened up the day i turned 16… with keys to my used sky blue egg shaped monza i was free to go wherever, whenever and with whomever i chose, within reason…. until i totaled it a week later… devastated, barely describes my emotional state at that time…. how could such a thing happen to me…. id passed my drivers test with flying colors… oh the cruelty of life… if it werent for that gravel enveloping me from all sides, grabbing at my tires, taunting them towards the ditch none of this would have happened… it was unfair… 100 percent positively, absolutely, unequivocally, without a shadow of a doubt not my fault…

luckily, up to today, that is the only accident ive been involved in that was my fault… ive wracked up almost 30 thousand miles on barbies dream house and aside from all the physical and mental abuse ive bestowed upon her, she has not smashed into nor has anyone smashed into her… living on the road for almost 2 and a half years now, crisscrossing from one coast to the other, zig zagging everywhere in between, i have seen very few crashes, wrecks, etc… ive seen a s*8tload of road repair work, yet have avoided traffic altercations or ulcerations or indentations especially illegal ones… and have only been pulled over once for speeding but my silver tongue,quick thinking and judo kicks to the groin got me out of that one…

heading back to minesotta from nebraska i was on one of those 2 lane highways, when a cop car whizzes by, sirens lazing, red lights flashing followed by an ambulance in exact high alert mode… maybe 20 minutes later i come to a complete stop as everyone on my side of the road is stopped with cars further ahead actually parked on the side, with the occupants out curious to see whats going on… im like everyone else, i wanna see whats going on… the row of parked cars is about 20 deep with at least 20 behind me so whatever happened must have just happened… right then the ambulance passes us going back the way i just came from…

police ahead are telling us to get back into our vehicles and not long after the ambulance pass the row of cars moves forward slowly… naturally i have my camera out snapping pictures… i just read recently this is illegal but i just cant help myself… im snapping away as i pass by the accident… a car is in the middle of the road, front smushed into the windshield, the entire windshield completely smushed out, indicating that someones entire body slammed against it… off the the right, in the ditch, is a horse trailer, its back crunched forward, causing the side of the trailer to indent… a horse standing next to a young man,in the ditch, with blood coming out a gash on its left flank… others standing in ditch all with worried and shocked faces…

from the looks of the wreck as i passed by, the horse trailer was making a left turn or stopped to make a left turn… being a two lane highway, the turning trailer would have to wait for opposing traffic to pass… the car behind either didnt see the trailer stopped, see the trailers blinker or didnt see the trailer indicate a turn because the trailer failed to do so… whatever the case, the car smashed into the back of the trailer…

i have no idea how it all turned out.. it looked serious enough that i said a silent blessing to all involved and threw it in the air…

it didnt take long for my dad to jump on the “lets write a book” bandwagon, cuz the next day he gave me the name of a city in montana he felt would suit my requirements of beautiful, solitary, and not a whole lot going on… the place looks amazing pa, good job i say to him, after checking it out on google… he kind of mumbles something back to me then walks away… my dad is so funny, always putting on this gruff exterior when inside hes filled with molten marshmallow…

my friend vicki is meeting me to get my hairs done at the avenue, downtown york… i have not seen vicki for a couple of years, yet thanks to facebook weve become better friends than we ever were in high school… it was through fb, i learned she has a ghost hunting hobby… i say hobby because she doesnt charge for her services… strictly for fun… although hanging with dead people is not my idea of fun… hey to each his own… however, i did think it would be fun to see if the avenue, one of the oldest buildings in york, may have some stubborn spirits hanging in the attic, or basement or the rafters… wherever ghosts are known to hang… it wasnt too long ago, if vicki suggested any ghost hunts in my tiny hometown, she may be the one to hang…

while york may not be considered a forward thinking community, repuclican, they have come a long way since i lived there… jan, another good friend and owner of the avenue, was all for it… hell ya, lets do some ghost hunting she says while im in the chair, hair covered in foils… omg… talk about scary, i say when i take a look at myself in the mirror… vicki enters, we play catchup then vicki tells the captive audience of me, nick b, jan, jackson, harper, chanel, wolf, grizz and paige how she got into chasing spirits, then explained all the equipment she uses to indicate if there are spirits in the vicinity…

i am of the belief that i am made up of energy and that when my body falls apart the essence of who i am, my energy, will go wherever its supposed or most likely not supposed to go… ive never seen dead people, however i do find it probable that a person whos passed to the wherevers, energy may still be floating around… vickis instruments, approved by james van praaugh himself, send out alerts when they detect a high energy field… once vicki is alerted to a spirit, she asks that this spirit turn on the flashlight she has sitting in front of her… to alert her of its presence… theres a bit more, but thats the gist of it…

vicki must have scared everybody off cuz it was just me and her and my boys alone at 10pm hunting ghosts in a dark scary basement… oh why did i agree to do this… i will never get to sleep tonight.. we start off pointing the energy indicators throughout the basement, nothing there so we move upstairs… one of the indicators starts indicating away, telling us we found a good spot… vicki sits down, turns her video camera on, and asks whatevers out there to turn on the flashlight… we sit, nothing… she asks again.. nada… vicki and i talk for a few minutes and i ask her about something or other when the lights above us flicker on and off… i get all excited and say omg did you see that… she asks the spirit again to show itself.. seconds later, it flicks on and of again… and we have it all on tape…

now many may argue that it could have been any number of things… they can argue away all they want… i was there, i know what i saw, we have it on video, so there… i dont believe ghosts come back and chop us up with chainsaws, or any other sharp objects, but i do believe that everything that exists is made up of energy… to me it makes perfect sense that some energy sticks around for whatever reason while other energy may be in hell… nobody knows… however, if im one of those energies who happens to stick around, you can be damn sure ill be passing on that info to your grandkids, grandkids…

its no secret i am madly in love with my dogs… if it was one, well, cats out of the bag now… my boys have provided hours of entertainment, 134,003 licks, companionship at all times, wether i want it or not, 34 headaches, 2 almost heart attacks, 96 pounds of poop, and a whole s*8t load of love as of today… i cant do what im doing without these massively tangled balls of fur…

i try really hard not to think about either of them leaving me for any reason… they have become appendages… a split second of imagining something bad happening to them instantly brings tears to my eyes… i try and be the best parent i can… which means the guilt factor comes into play on a daily basis… i really should be working with wolf more, hes so smart, i need to keep his brain occupied… little grizz he is my sweetie peetie… my baby, who just wants to snuggle and play with toys… like every working mom, i too find it hard to fit it all in…

im as lovingly obnoxious as every mom cuz naturally we all think ours are the best… and to us they are and thats all that matters… grizz is in kindergarten now… hes a little older than the rest of the students… i had to hold him back, cuz when they made him they spent so much on making him pretty they ran out of time when it came to giving him brains… he is sweet perfection however and i think he will always be my little baby… wolf is highly motivated and loves agility class… he needs a lot of stimulation or he gets bored and takes it out on grizz…

no easy way to segue so here it is… ive read some horrific news stories about atrocious incidents of animal abuse… it seems ive been reading far more than “normal”… ill say average, there is nothing normal about abuse of animals, or abuse of any nature… the abuse of animals and children are especially heinous as they are the defenseless, the innocents, the pure… trying to understand what makes people harm those weaker then them is futile… hoping that humanity will wake up tomorrow and love all of gods creatures is insanely naive… wishing that all the perpetrators will be caught and put to justice is wildly optimistic… giving attention to those who deal with the aftermath, when possible, is something that is in my power…

gail nordlund has spent many years serving lost, abandoned and abused animals in york, nebraska…its amazing what can be accomplished when we put our passion behind our actions… i was very excited to meet with gail at the brand new york adopt a pet building… gail and her sister judy, have spent many years tirelessly campaigning for donations to build this wonderful facility… as we walked through, gail pointed out a van that was donated, showed me the land that was donated, and introduced me to the volunteers who work with her… york is a town of about 8,000 people… thats not a lot of people… my people at compassion for canines would be green with greenies if they had half of what my little town has… i am so impressed with the outpouring of love for animals…

one thing compassion for canines and york adopt a pet have in common is they believe there is a way for all shelters and rescues to function on a no kill basis… york adopt a pet is a no kill shelter… although not as barbaric as flat out animal abuse, saving an animal only to have to kill it a week or so later kind of defeats the purpose… societys views on pets and animals has changed for the better over the years… educating the public about puppy mills, dog fighting, animal abuse i believe has been productive… i dont have exact stats to corroborate it, but nobody i know will ever buy an animal from a pet store ever again…

krystal, from compassion for canines, told me about a seminar she attended on no kill shelters…
according to the experts, no kill shelters are 100 percent doable with correct money management skills… i had no idea there was such a thing… not that i am ms encyclopedia, but i figure if i dont know about it there must be more people out there who dont either… i dont exactly have a massive readership but for all its worth i will share this piece of information in hopes that through education, change can come about…

i have great respect for those who dedicate their lives to saving animals… its gotta be gut wrenching at times… im not that kind of strong to deal with what they have to deal with… id have animals coming out of my exhaust pipe, trying to save em all…
